Name: Aaron and Morgan Snow

Organization: Intentional Gatherings

Tell us a little about your family: I am 26, and my beautiful wife Morgan is 24. She’s an incredible mother slash part time hair stylist on E. 6th St. Our daughter, Eliza, is 14 months old, and cracks us up. We’re expecting baby number two sometime in May, which is fun. We’re a simple bunch, love the outdoors, and being with friends and family. It is our goal to model for others a simple lifestyle of discipleship and birthing new spiritual families as a natural outflow of life.

What geographical area are you focusing on? Personally, we’re focused on wherever we live, and we just bought a house in St. John’s where we’ll be moving shortly.  Intentional Gatherings is focused on equipping students and other lay people to make disciples and plant new churches in their own context.

What were you doing before Austin? We started our first church/network in Ft. Worth, Tx., and also spent two years in Las Vegas.

What has drawn you to the Austin area? One reason is to be closer to our families in DFW.  We also want to walk with some people who have gone through our training and started new churches here in Austin. They have become “spiritual family”. We are also here to make disciples and start a new “spiritual family” in our context.

What do you hope to see in the next 12 months? We recently sent everyone out in pairs to plant the seeds of a new “spiritual family” (church) in their contexts. We’d love to see up to 5 new churches birth as we see lives transformed by the Gospel. We’d also love to see a new community of believers birthed in our new neighborhood.

How can others be praying for your work? Pray that we will have the ability to hear God’s voice and obey in the midst of opposition, for grace in communicating what God is doing in fresh new ways, for fresh vision from Holy Spirit and disciples who make disciples.

Where can we find you online? (blog, twitter, church site, etc.) http://aholydiscontent.wordpress.comwww.intentionalgatherings.comwww.studentcpx.org

NBC News Reports on House Church In U.S.

Below NBC News Reports on House Church Trends in the U.S. This is a great picture of some practical reasons why many American Christians are seeking out more personal, intimate, & financially practical ways of “Being the Church”. Statistics show that billions of dollars are spent each year in America on church buildings. Many Americans are choosing to meet in places that already belong to them…their homes! This frees up tons of money to be used for other purposes. Of course, there are many other reasons that we, as a family, and I.G. as an organization choose to pursue Jesus in these types of contexts. Yes, it is beautiful for financial resources to be freed up. It’s great that in these contexts each individual gets to, for the first time, start playing an ACTIVE role in where their resources are used. But, we also love things like the beautiful intimacy of relationship that cannot be avoided in these contexts. We love that each person involved must play an active role in the community and making disciples. We love getting to see ordinary followers of Jesus empowered to live out the most basic teachings of Jesus for the first time in their Christian lives. This is a beautiful thing…
